Led Zeppelin

Led Zepplin can easily be named as the biggest band of the 1970's The name was suggested by The Who drummer Keith Moon. The original line-up was Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Baldwin and John Bonham.

The band that was to become Led Zeppelin first played together in a session for PJ Proby. Page was already an established session guitar player performing with The Yardbirds, Donovan, The Who, The Kinks and Them.

The first album was the eponymous Led Zeppelin which set the tone for everything to come with their career moved on by their aggressive manger Peter Grant. Led Zeppelin II included moajor songs such as Ramble On, Moby Dick and Whole Lotta Love. Led Zep III showcased songs such as Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You. LZIV had hits Black Dog and Stairway To Heaven. Other successful albums included Houses Of The Holy, Physical Graffiti and The Song Remains The Same.

By 1977 and with the punk scene in full flow they recorded In Through The Out Door. Split up after the death of John Bonham in the early 1980's and never reformed.
