Thunder In The ChartsLeo Sayer (born Gerard Sayer, May 1948) burst back onto the English music scene in 2006 when Meck re-mixed his seventies hit Thunder In My Heart which reached number one in February of that year. His music career had begun some 35 years previously. After many years busking, Sayer joined a band called Patches with Dave Courtney and with the help of Keith Moon (of The Who) and Adam Faith the duo recorded an album but it flopped. In 1972 he started recording some solo stuff at Roger Daltrey's Sussex studio and The Who front man was so impressed he used some of the material on his own debut album. Dressed as a clown, Sayer put out the album Silverbird which included the first of ten top ten hits between 1973-1982.
His most well-known top tens included One Man Band, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, The Show Must Go On, the ballad When I Need You and of course Thunder In My Heart. His career petered out with the emergence of punk but remained a housewife's favourite before entering semi-retirement in the early eighties.
