The Smiths real tones and ringtones

Formed in Manchester in 1982, The Smiths were a vocal/instrumental quartet consisting of Morrisssey, Johnnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce. The name was chosen to aid anonymity and the group, led by Morriseey were fiercely independent. This manifested itself in never making a promotional pop video and remaining throughout their career on the independent label Rough Trade despite many advances from the major labels.

At the centre of their appeal was Marr's lavish Byrds-like guitar and Morrissey's sombre enigmatic lyrics. The debut single, Hand in Glove (1983) was followed by This Charming Man, What Difference does it make and the gloomy Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now which were all top 30 hits in the UK and were included on the debut album The Smiths released in 1984. Their second album Meat Is Murder was considered by many as less substantial but they enjoyed renewed success with the Hatful Of Hollow effort which was culled from John Peel Sessions.

Rarely out of the rock press, singles Bigmouth Strikes Again was followed up by Shakespeare's Sister, Boy With Thorn In His Side. They split in 1987 when Marr left the group to work in the states.

We value quality and are confident our collection may be matched but will not be bettered and you will be listening to authentic real music downloads.
